Almanac Beer: Prickly Moses is up and about

Prickly Moses Handcrafted Beer is thrilled to now be associated with The Footy Almanac. Brewing since 2007 at Otway Estate in Barongarook, in the Otways in Victoria’s South West, Prickly Moses produces more than 20 beer styles over the course of each year, from our ever popular Summer Ale, Otway Pale Ale and Otway Stout, to our innovative brews such as our Chardonnay IPA , Blueberry Hefeweizen and Black Panther Black IBA, to the Smokie Dawson endorsed cleansing Australian Ale, ChainSAW.

Our small but dedicated team aim to produce the best quality beer, to match an appearance, aroma and flavour profile, not a budget, so we use the best possible ingredients we can find. Our repertoire of beer recipes continues to grow and we’re always keen to try something new. Meet the Prickly Moses team here.

Otway Estate, the home of the Prickly Moses brewery, was established as a winery in 1981, with the current owners purchasing in 1996. Otway Estate wines are made on site from our cool climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc vines. Cider is now also made onsite under the Forbidden Fruit Cider brand, with Original Apple, Apple Berry, Apple Mango and Organic Apple cider varieties available.

Prickly Moses is part of a consortium of owners of the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse in Apollo Bay, and the Queenscliff Brewhouse, with both hotels not only having an extensive range of Prickly Moses beers on tap, but also a huge range of local beers, wines and produce in their ‘Tastes of the Region’ stores.

  1. Hi Luke and crew at Prickly Moses. We are rapt to be working with you guys, and thanks for your support of the Almanac. Looking forward to joining Smokie and your good self over a ChainSAW.

  2. If you haven’t had a ChainSAW, you haven’t lived !!

  3. Dennis Gedling says

Drank many of their beers last month in Apollo Bay. The dark ales are divine. I did dream I was chased by a Black Panther that night after drinking a Black Panther IBA though.

  4. Welcome aboard Prickly Moses! Briefly, the weather last week suggested a blueberry hefe would be delightful. A black IBA might be the go this week though. I’ll keep hassling my locals to get a keg or two dispatched across the border.

  5. Must try the chainSAW.

    Great stuff Luke.

    Prost!!

  6. Good stuff,Luke love your support of the knackery

  7. Well played, Prickly Moses.
I wonder which Almanackers could be nominated as a Prickly Moses mascots?
Both smooth and prickly, diverse Australian flavours, local, creative, with flair and oomph.

  8. Luke Reynolds says

So great to be involved in the coming together of two great institutions, Prickly Moses and The Footy Almanac.
Think we could make ChainSAW the official beer of the Knackery, though Smokie may have already done that some time ago!
Here’s cheers to a successful partnership going forward!
