AFL Round 19 – Collingwood v Essendon: slowly finding form

football season –
a bleak afternoon
turns brilliant

winter clouds slowly finding form

heavy underfoot
the Bombers
losing ground

blanket of cloud
before you know it
5 goals clear

drug rumours
the Bombers
can’t settle

steady rain
Pendlebury running
smoothly

nearing spring
an old dream
returns

Comments

  1. Love the dual meanings in haiku. “Can’t settle”. “Finding form”. Context gives them so many different meanings and points of reference for the reader – footy, life and nature.
    Thanks HB

  2. DBalassone says

Love it HB. Beautiful stuff! I was back at the game visualising it all.
