AFL Round 1 – North Melbourne v Collingwood (Haiku Bob): afterglow

first bounce of the Sherrin
a rush of blood
in my heart

Easter Sunday –
Cloke from dead in front

twilight game
the search for gaps
in the shadows

clash of heads –
the sun slides off
the stadium roof

Easter weekend –
Holy crap!
What a mark!

Easter Sunday –
we start the last
one man down

afterglow –
the game ends
with a one-hander

  1. Good to see you AND the Pies on song in Round 1, HB.

    Did you watch it “live”?

  2. Andrew Fithall says

Love the Easter references HB. When reading, I inserted my own comma after the word “dead” in the second verse.

  3. Peter Flynn says

This is the first time I’ve read the phrase ‘holy crap’ in a haiku.

Looking forward to the Round 2 haiku.

Even within the structure of a haiku, there are plenty of one-syllable words that can be used to describe Mick Madhouse.

  4. haikubob says

MOC – yes. Sweden is a land full of streams and I always manage to find the dodgy ones.

Flynny – re madhouse, psychopathic egomaniac are not two of them.

    and one for you:

    Easter Monday –
    the gathered assembly
    in praise of Pod

  5. Super stuff HB!

Let’s hope you are still painting similar pictures of the Pies deep into September.
