So, tell us how it plays out from here. Very interested in the views of neutrals. And from those whose side is still in it: which team do you most fear and why?

Thanks guys, I think Dogs and North are cooked, leaving those matches to be blow-outs. The other two look to be killer-dillers…..now for Ted Whittens Legends and Womens game the night after. Whew…what a year.

  2. Mark Duffett says

Thursday night football isn’t any more redeemed by virtue of being a final, quite the opposite, in fact.

  3. A Thursday night final?

  4. Any of 6 teams are good enough at their best. My Eagles can beat anyone on current form. Just dunno if we can beat the MCG. Semi final will be at the G against the loser of Hawks and Cats, if we get over the wounded Dogs in Week 1.
The SCG postage stamp should work against the pace of the Giants.
Who plays who where will have a big bearing when the teams are so even. And injuries.

  5. David Zampatti says

It’s great that the team that has to travel the furthest (The Bullies) will get the extra day to recover before they have to play The Cats/Hawks.

  6. PB,
The Sydney derby is at ANZ Stadium

  7. What about the Battle of the Bridge now?

Interesting to see NRL finals programming in response. Likely to have four teams from outside Sydney Storm, Cowboys, Broncos, Titans.

  8. Oh, and I forgot about Canberra. That’s five if the Titans hang on.

  9. Thursday Night. Really Why don’t we just let the TV stations run the whole shebang

    Just a mention Peter:
The “postage stamp” SCG (155.5×136) , with its reconfigured playing area, is in fact now larger overall than
Etihad, Kardinia Park, ANZ, Spotless and Adelaide Oval, Unfortunately the Swans will be playing at ANZ for their first final, where its ground dimensions are the smallest of all grounds at 160×118.

  11. kath presdee says

JH – In the NRL, ANZ is the Bulldogs’ home ground. If they qualify for a home final then it will either be Friday night or Sunday. While my beloved Sharkies will get a home final, it’s debatable whether they’ll be playing it at Endeavour (or SCGS) or moving it to either Allianz or ANZ. There is no way a Cronulla v Canberra (or Cronulla v Cowboys) final will draw a big enough crowd to justify moving the game to ANZ except if they want to have the sole final in Sydney at that ground.

  12. Ben Footner says

I’m not sure about anyone else, but I’m just super excited to see what Geelong, Sydney & Hawthorn can do this finals series. So fresh and interesting this year. Imagine if one of them one the flag!

  13. Daniel Flesch says

J T H .. Reader’s Letter in today’s SMH mentions the possibility of the Sydney Swans winning a flag in Melbourne while the Melbourne Storm wins in Sydney. Synchronicity in an altogether weird way.

  14. It’s like beer. When each state had its own beer I knew who I was. Now I’m confused.
