A REVIEW OF THE CAM MOONEY “IN THE BACK FREE KICK”

Thousands of “impartial” footy fans are parroting that the Cam Mooney “free kick” for “in the back” is a “free kick every day of the week.”

I’ve read it in footy forums.

I’ve heard it in cafes.

I’ve even had “friends” say it.

Well, what a load of rubbish.

There are three points to argue against this totally implausible thought.

Firstly, how can it be a “free kick every day of the week” when football is never played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays and rarely on Mondays? So, how can it be paid every day of the week! It’s this sort of mindless paraphrasing of other people’s opinions that has lead to the parlous state of everything, everywhere in the world, if not the universe.

Secondly, if I’m not very much mistaken, last night’s game was played at NIGHT! Again, this just proves that people declaring the inane “fact” that it was a “free kick every day of the week” are about as intelligent as some one who is not very intelligent AND has just had a lobotomy AND has been sleep deprived for sixteen years AND wears their underpants on their head AND thinks that thinking is over rated so they prefer to concentrate on hitting their head against spikes for a living.

Thirdly, and most importantly, I support Geelong and WE WUZ ROBBED!!!!

  1. Alex – we would have won if it wasn’t for the umpires………hang on a minute I feel like a Collingwwod supporter all of a sudden!

  2. Alex,

    what did ‘Dirty Harry’ say?

    “Don’t get mad, get even.”

  3. As one of two Presidents of the WeloveCameronMooneyFanClub, and also a person who didn’t see the incident must say that…MOONS WAS FRAMED!! He’s INNOCENT!! How could someone that CUTE be capable of such a crime!!…oh the agony!

    Danni

  4. HAHAHA, BRILLIANT Alex!!!

I’m a Cats fan, so definitely won’t be calling it impartially, but heck: what REALLY bugs me about this free is yes, there are precedents, BUT the way the umpies had been calling it all night, to keep it CONSISTENT they needed to let it slide. It was a dark night for the men in various hues.

p.s. Having Danni on your side is a huge compliment – she’s actually a Pies supporter. :P

    +1

  6. Hi Alex,
I hate to re-burst your bubble but there are a few fatal flaws in your argument.

Firstly, the 2007 Anzac Day clash (Wednesday)

Secondly, the 2008 Anzac Day clash (Tuesday) and 2002 was the Thursday if I’m not mistaken.

Thirdly, I’m pretty sure the days of the week are Friday, Saturday, Sunday…etc Not Frinight, Saturnight, Sunnight…etc

Fourthly, while debate clearly continues to rage, there are 24 hours in a day. Not 12 hours in a day and 12 hours in a night. Or any other fractional permutation you wish insert into the equation.

In light of these facts, I’d advise you to steer clear of spikes, remove the underpants from your head, enroll in some sort of further education and have a good lie down.

  7. Tails, it’s only a bit of fun! Logic will be the death of comedy :P

  8. Comment 6 – Tails. You’re a bore. The Footy Almanac is about fun. Booo

  9. KickittoGary says

Tails, Tails, Tails – Sydney was what is commonly known as ‘having a laugh’. So shoosh-up and take note!

+ 33 (and the Max factor wasn’t even playing).

Max Rooke: “call that a tackle? THIS is a TACKLE!”

    Tails,

Good points. But you certainly did not refute that I am a Geelong supporter and that WE WUZ ROBBED. Robbed, I tells ya!

I counted no less than seven in the backs the same as Cam Mooney’s in the first quarter alone of the Freo v Hawthorn match before I turned it off in disgust.

PS Any other Geelong supporters think Mark Harvey is wonderful? (I reserve to change this thought if we lose to Freo on Friday night…)

  12. At the moment I have utmost respect for Harvey and his men for overcoming the Mighty Hawks.

This respect will considerably lessen if they find a way to overcome us this weekend.

    :P

  13. David Downer says

In the interest of levity then…

And no I didn’t put this together!

  14. DD

I think that’s a fair point well made.

Geelong (their coach included) would be better served to stop the whining and concentrate on Freo.

  15. Sydney Malakellis says

    DD,

Interesting viewing not seen on TV…

…and not seen on TV for a reason SM!

Cleverly done. You can never be steered too far wrong using the phrase “douche bag”

    DD

  17. Suzie, Jase & KickittoGary.

Go and watch the trailer for “I’m Still Here”.

    Wink, smile, etc.
