Am I the only one who wrote the date on Monday each time with a wry smile ie. July 1, 2013 or 1.7.13. This is the last footy score date for the year, as I eagerly await 2.2.14 next year. Even more significantly, 1.7.13 was the winning score in my premiership winning first year of footy in under 10’s (v 1.6.12 in a cliff hanger).

Is anyone out there born for footy, with a footy score date of birth; particularly any of the current players?

  1. 7.7.49 AND 7 times 7 = 49 (and of less relevance ’49 is the year i was born – as my daughter so keen to point out- in the first half of last century)

If we use the American system with the month first, then my birthday is a footy score: 9. 15. 69. It is also what Adelaide kicked this round.

Well spotted- sorry I missed it. This year is also the first since ’99 when there are two dates in the year which equate with a footy score: 2.1.13 and 1.7.13. (From 2000 to 2006 inclusive there were no such dates and from 2007 to 2012 there was only one for each year.)

Late last year we had the calendar date 12.12.12, not a footy score by any stretch but which was also my 60th birthday. I thought I should do something significant to make this alignment, so I retired. A great move!

Next year we look forward to the 2nd of February and the 1st of August.

    Numerically yours, etc
