Tiger roar turns ‘meow’

No matter how much you wish you could, you can’t deny that my Magpies are looking smokin’ hot right now.

Now I know all you non- Collingwood supporters hyperventilate or break a sweat when you see us on the top of the ladder but admit it, the way the boys are playing they deserve it.

We are all smart people who can appreciate when a team is playing well no matter which team, right?

Fellow Almanacer Susie always says-

“If Geelong isn’t, then it’s better to see Collingwood at the top instead of St.Kilda”

And I always say-

“If Collingwood isn’t, then it’s better to see Geelong at the top instead of St.kilda.”

See, that is how you can appreciate other teams that aren’t your own (except the Saints b/c we don’t like them)

Knowing we were playing the Tigers I didn’t rule them out like everyone else, why would you?

Just because they are not in the top four doesn’t mean they can’t play mean footy.

Threats come in all different disguises; sometimes what you see isn’t always what you get.

Even though they do have a handful of player out I didn’t rule them out, Collingwood may choose to have a lazy day.

I’m happy to say that I was wrong.

The play that summed it all up was the big torp from Goldsack in Richmond’s goal square that flew right through the middle of the ground and resulted in a fast play- on goal.

That’s pretty much how it went, goal after goal from all different players.

Richmond tried to hold on but the pressure my boys applied was just too good.

Even when there were turn-overs we still got the footy back and caused more damage on the scoreboard.

Didak was everywhere, Johnson and Tarks were trying their hearts out and breaking mine.

Caffer was finally proving himself and Leigh Brown, what can I say about Leigh!!!?

Dear Leigh,

You are seriously AMAZING!

I had my doubts at first, I didn’t hate you or anything but I wasn’t sure how you would fit into the team and now…WOW!

You seem to be providing the big daddy role that the likes of Malloy, Licuria and Holland left behind in protecting the baby Magpies with your ‘Grrrrr factor.’

I absolutely LOVE the toughness and edge you have brought to the club, we need it.

It always good to see you getting up close, gripping jumpers  and giving that piercing look with those great electric blue eyes, I just LOVE it!

Your work rate has lifted so much, you chase, you tackle and most importantly you kick STRAIGHT!!!

I’m so proud of you!

I don’t even have to cover my eyes when you take a jab at a set shot any more, how cool is that?

Anyway keep up the great work; you have proved yourself worthy of your Black and White jumper!

Best wishes- Danni Eid.

Well that sums it up for Leigh.

Cousins is a real fighter, he really tried to get some footy and ran as hard as ever but it just wasn’t Richmond’s day.

Richmond fans would be happy to know that my Riewoldt hate does not apply to Jack.

I like him, he’s not pretty or anything but I like his style, he’s a roughie and he looks determined.

But these two, no matter how hard they tried couldn’t match my Magpies to what blew out to be a mighty big win.

We needed that- percentage wise, confidence wise, sanity wise, EVERYTHINGWISE.

Now the attention is on our next victims-

Carlton.

    Danni

Re Leroy, beauty must be in the eye of the beholder. :)

  2. I remember thinking a couple of years ago “Collingwood picked Leigh Brown? What idiots!” Good on Leigh for proving me and the rest of the football world wrong.

I hate to say it, but I actually think talking to you and reading your reports has actually made me more sympathetic towards Collingwood. I can’t explain it. I’m growing to realise that despite that we’re conditioned to hate Collingwood, the team that I reserve the most hate for is Essendon.

  3. Same for me after last night Adam.

    Good stuff Danni.

  4. Steve Healy says:

Very nice stuff as always Danni, and yeah, Leigh Brown has certainly improved, he has a good chance of brownlow votes in his last two games

  5. Danni, brilliant work as always :p

“I don’t even have to cover my eyes when you take a jab at a set shot any more, how cool is that?” (pure gold!)

All the best for your boys next week – tell them to win, but to take it easy. The next week they take on the might of a priming-ourselves-for-September Cats outfit.

Clearly, I’m not gonna hope you win that one. But I wish you all the best, and hope we get a great game, not a fizzer.

  6. Damian Watson says:

    Brilliant read Danni,

I just believe that regardless of how much sympathy we direct towards Collingwood, a Magpie Premiership is always a nightmare for Anti Black and White supporters.

The Pies have taken out the falg once over the past 50 years and for me, the name Collingwood enscripted on the Premiership Cup wouldn’t feel right.

Anyhow, all the power to you and the Magpies Danni, were you suprised that Mick couldn’t indicate any sort of a smile after the match?

  7. Don’t be concerned Damo, that bloke NEVER smiles.

  8. Damian – A Collingwood premiership? Let’s not consider that thought. Even if you hate other teams more, the thought of a Pies premiership inspires more dread. We all want the drought to keep going.

  11. Danielle says:

    NOT IMPRESSED BULMAN!!!

  12. Don’t believe Adam, Danni :p I’m sure everyone in our group hopes that one of our teams will win it this year. And we all hope, for your sake, Collingwood win it (so long as it’s not at the expense our team :P )

  13. Dave Latham says:

If Collingwood win I’m booking into Betty Ford in November.
