Sweet 19 (14?) Expectations

This isn’t going to be just any Friday night game.

The date marked is Friday the thirteenth! We’ll be missing our star ruck man Darren Jolly, Ben Johnson, there’s rumors that the skipper be a miss too and it will be a day when Venus, Mars, Mercury and Jupiter align. The Cats have been going well so far, proof that unlike Carlton they aren’t dependant on one player, yeah I’m looking at you Juddy.

There’s one thing I don’t like about Geelong, it’s the fact that I like them a lot.

The Cats are all class and I never find myself switching the channel if I’m watching a Cats game. I guess you can say there’s something about Geelong.

I’m leaving for Sydney this weekend, its part of my birthday gift.

This small holiday wouldn’t normally be a problem but the last time I went to Sydney and was a weekend we played Geelong and we got thrashed.

It kinda seems like a lost game already, although dad says were due to win by my new age of 19 points.

I didn’t know Johnson wasn’t going to be playing until I had a look at the Herald Sun website. Then I also discovered is live chat with Scott Pendlebury! Wow this was a good day not to rock up to uni! A bit worried about the fact that we might lose the game, I turned to Pendles for some support. Lately my boys haven’t really been able to keep the same momentum going for the WHOLE game so I’m a bit worried the Cats may just run us over. Because of this I posted-

Hey Pendles! What will the team be focusing on to make sure we can play a good 4 terms this friday against the Cats? and can i please get a happy birthday tweet from you? @Madamedeficit9 thanks and goodluck!

Scott replied:

Hi Dani,

We regard Geelong as a great side, they have been one for four or five years. Looking at their side there is still 10-plus All-Australians so there is a lot of talent there. We have enormous respect for them and what they have achieved. We have been dubbed the favorites tomorrow night but both sides would be confident leading into this game.

My initial response was…OMG he called me Dani without even being told to! :) Obviously I’m not the only Magpie who regards the Cats so highly and even Scott is kinda in a way acknowledging that it isn’t going to be an easy game.

The best thing about Geelong would have to be the fact that they have Cameron Mooney. He is most defiantly by far my Geelong husband. While I also cannot look past the radiance of Joel Selwood- ‘like zomg….such a STUNNER!’ Cameron Mooney still wins out as my main man. Who could resist such a cuddly and affectionate (as pointed out by Maria) man! As for Mackie he kinda reminds me of that hot unapproachable guy who sits at the back in my lab class….

And now as I clean out my uni bag, I’ve counted a total of 14 chocolate wrappers (such is the life of a uni student) and I wonder about the result that is to come on a crazy Friday night.

One thing is for sure, it should be a ripper.

  2. Dave Nadel says:

Happy Birthday, Dani. I’m going tonight (of course). I’ll give the boys an extra big cheer on your behalf.
    Dave.
PS Your favourite ex-Collingwood player looks a real chance to get a game with Freo on Sunday.

  3. Steve Healy says:

How nice of Pendles! He should’ve added an extra ‘n’ though.

And if Cam Mooney’s the best thing about Geelong, he isn’t playing so I guess that means the Pies will win?

Have a fun time in Sydney! ;)

    Happy Birthday Danni,

Two years ago when I asked my daughter what number she wanted on her jumper her reply was ‘Pendles’. He is a class act. Must admit I’m a bit worried about tonight without Jolly and Maxwell. Pendles will be Skipper. Hope he gets a win.

  5. Dave Nadel says:

Another birthday present for you, Danni. Jack is listed in the final 22 for Fremantle. Since they are not playing Collingwood, I hope, for his sake and yours, that Jack kicks a bagfull.
