Round 7 – Richmond v Collingwood: Haiku Bob – So We Tell Ourselves

Haiku Bob was in Kraków on the weekend attending the Second International Haiku Conference during which  he presented a paper on the History of Australian Haiku. There was  a banquet the night before the game which went long into the night. But, as is custom, Haiku Bob set the alarm and caught the following glimpses of the game…

sweeping leaves ~
a few of their players
get loose

watching
all the way from Kraków
Magpies way off

clouds disperse ~
seagulls the length
of the wing

poetry conference
not so much as a mention
of the Pies

clouds pass ~
from four kicks in front
to four kicks behind

another sunny autumn day
wasted watching us
lose again

despite the loss
the future looks bright
or so we tell ourselves

Comments

  1. Mmm, do a detect a change in mood there, HB?

  2. Haiku Bob says

    Dunno Smokie,

Think I’ve been ‘glass half empty’ for most of the journey.
