Respite from the lounge room, but none from the Cats

Cats V Pies.

By Jeffrey Paterson

I get home from work, 10 past seven and my lounge room is a little to noisy for my liking so I head off to my room which is a lot quieter, I decide to listen to the footy on the radio and watch it at the same time seeing as though channel 7 decided to play the game live.

The game starts, Swan kicks the first goal of the match Dad obviously liked the goal because all I can seem to hear even though my radio is up quite loud is him screaming “PIES, SWAN ! GOAL!!!!” He wasn’t so happy when Ablett booted through the second for the match, and theres the second for my supercoach team. The game is very high paced with the ball travelling from end to end throughout the rest of the first term but neither team can score another goal with the reigning premiers going into the the first break one solitary point up. Cats-1.3.9 Pies-1.2.8.

The second quarter starts up and it’s Collingwood kicking the first of the quarter through Beams, who along with Steele Sidebottom have proven very handy up forward and in the midfield for the pies so far this season. That goal puts the black and white in the lead but it didn’t last very long at all with the cats piling on 3 in a row through Johnson, Mooney and Tomahawk. Geelong look as though they are going to go in with a handy lead before Beams stands up and kicks the last two goals of the quarter, the last kick was awfully close to the siren i might add. The half time scores read, Cats-4.7.31 Pies-4.2.26.

The ball is bounced to start the third and it started the same way it finished in the second with another goal to Beams, that’s his 4th. Then the veteran Shane O’Bree kicks home a nice goal and Collingwood look like there starting to get on top of the Cats. And only as Geelong can they kick the last 5 goals of the quarter through Mooney with two, Varcoe, Stokes and Podsiadly all with 1. The game looks like it’s almost out of Collingwood’s reach in a low scoring match for these two sides at 3 quarter time with the scores showing Cats-9.12.66 Pies-6.8.44.

The final term starts and the Magpies miss a couple easy shots, and Stokes makes them pay with two goals in a row taking his tally to three for the match. Then Wojcinski put the icing on the cake kicking the last goal of the game.

Final Scores: Cats-12.14.86 Pies-6.14.50. 36 points great number that :).

Best. 3.Kelly 2.Beams 1.Bartel

Comments

  1. Well, this was a nice short and concise match report.

Those Cats know how to put pressure on the scoreboard when they really need to.

  2. Thanks Adelaide Dupont,

It would’ve been longer but I had to play today so I got it done pretty quick.
