Rd 11 2012 FEARLESS – Bye week 1…the mid season draft does have appeal, your club’s list may need some work or top up players…

BYE: Adelaide, Brisbane, GWS, North Melbourne, West Coast, Western Bulldogs

(In racecalling mode…) Coming into the straight Corio Hoops is going neck and neck with the Navy Juddernaut; jockey Best Selwood cracks the whip on Corio Hoops after sliding head movements and Navy Juddernaut has fallen a neck behind. Trainers Scott Brother and Ratts Ears are yelling from the sidelines but Navy Juddernaut is a bit wayward in the last 50m. Corio Hoops by half a length, but Navy J fell in behind…

Ostensibly a maritime nickname, one would assume Dockers have a handle on all things wet…at least moreso than the Tigers. A wet Saturday afternoon at the G, Fremantle managed to break its 5-year MCG hoodoo on the back of 6 goals by the Pav. The Tigers get a reality check as Hill, De Boer and Griffin led Freo to a win.

Nick Riewoldt must love returning to the Gold Coast where he grew up. 7 goals at Metricon Stadium for his Saints proved the point as St.Kilda cruised to a 95 point victory. The Suns continue their development but earn the wrath of Coach Bluey McKenna for being totally unacceptable. The game plan: kick it to Gazza – might need some work.

Weather might have been an excuse outside, but how can a side kick 2.15 to ¾ time under the roof at Etihad, especially when the Bombers were near the top of the ladder. A 9 goal last quarter nearly stole the game but bad kicking is bad footy as per Auskick. The Swans nearly lost, being 47 pts up at ¾ to hold on by 4pts. So close but yet so far.

Hawthorn travelled to the City of Churches to carry out a mercy killing on the Power from Port. Matthew Primus’s charges have already improved this year but Buddy and co. represented its toughest challenge in 2012 so far. The 1st quarter put paid to any contest with Buddy, Roughy and young Breust set the Hawks onto a 46pt away win.

A marquee day on the AFL calendar but this didn’t equate to a marquee game on this Queen’s Birthday Monday. Melbourne let the Pies out to an early lead from which the Demons never recovered. In between, the Demons tried to reel in the lead thru Mitch Clark with 4 goals. It was background noise though for most watching on tv.
