Racing: All Silent for me, but pace needs to be on

By Mark “Makybe” Freeman

Lovely days racing ahead of us, punters, and plenty to get excited about on the punt.

For my little stable of horses to follow, the Patinack is a cracker. I’ve got All Silent, Mic Mac, Nicconi and the Cat in that order among my top 10, so I’ll be all over the trifectas and first fours.

As mentioned elsewhere, Centrebet has weighed in to rescue our spring assault after the Eskander debacle, and with their kind gift I’ll load up on my best for spring, All Silent.

Only weakness could be a slow pace, and Crio, Budge and lads, let me know if you’ve got any view on the likely pace.

The Emirates is a trap – So You Think fans should think back to 2007 and Weekend Hussler’s inglorious effort  as a 3yo in the Emirates after taking all before him that spring. And the Hussler didn’t even run in the Cox Plate that year and so avoided the gut buster that So You Think has endured.

The Queen Elizabeth is usually won by progressive stayers, and on first glance that includes Zupacool and Hume. We’ll have to keep Sid safe, but he fits into the to-be-avoided category of a horse at the end of a disappointing prep, and so it’s hard to enthuse about his chances.

The other two I’d like to get on if the odds are not too prohibitive are Lucky Thunder in the second and Governance in the fourth.

Now to Daff’s Cash – after nailing the cup trifecta we’re nicely in the black – so come on punters, let’s have a crack!

Crio, Budge, Gears, JTH, Flynnie, Craig and any others willing to have a go there’s a hundred to spend each. Let’s unleash the beast!!

We’ll take the first six bets in, preface selection with “Daff’s Cash” in comments bar.

My hunnert goes on All Silent @ top fluc:

Melb R5 No. 3 $100 top fluc

And with the spare $62:

Melb R5 flexi box tri nos. 1, 3, 5, 6 $30 = 125%

Melb R5 flexi box 1st four 1, 3, 5, 6 $30 = 125%

Melb R5 straight 1st four 3-6-5-1 $2 = 200%

If all goes pear shaped, we’ll be left with a hunnert for the last gasp, Sandown Classic Day.

Good, luck punters.

(Current position: $962 in the black)
