PFA Football History Conference: Tuesday May 15

 

“Learning from the past to shape the future”

 

Player development, Australian football’s place in the world and the journey of our professional competitions will take centre-stage as the PFA hosts its inaugural Football History Conference at Lakeside Stadium on Tuesday 15 May 2018.

The Football History Conference has been curated by Joe Gorman, author of ‘The Death and Life of Australian Soccer’, and renowned football historian and writer, Roy Hay.

 

To be hosted by SBS football presenter Lucy Zelic, the conference will deep-dive on key football themes, each featuring a keynote speaker followed by an interactive audience Q & A with prominent figures within Australian football such as Moya Dodd and Craig Foster.

 

Walkley Award nominated writer Joe Gorman will address the theme “Shaping our National Competitions”, Anthony Bubalo of the Nous Group and Australia’s leading football statistician Andrew Howe will address “Australia and the World” while Dr. Ron Smith will address the theme “Players” and chronicle the history of player development in Australia.

 

The Conference, to be streamed live on FNR Football Nation Radio, will be launched by PFA Chair Brendan Schwab who will deliver the Mike Cockerill Oration, in tribute to the recently deceased giant of Australian football media.
