Kane Richardson: does he have Nugget’s polish?

Kane Richardson - Touch of Keith Miller

Peter Argent captures a flowing drive from South Australian all-rounder Kane Richardson.  It’s a big statement but Peter writes:

“I know this is a early call – but isn’t there a touch of the Great Australian All Rounder “Keith Ross Miller” about this guy.   Firstly a fast bowler that can ruffle the feathers, also a correct free flowing batsman and a good fielder.

Tall, handsome and debonair as well.

He may just over the next 24 months to three years develop into the ALL ROUNDER that Australian cricket needs.

Richardson has shown glimpses of it in the shorter forms of the game, but needs to play more first class cricket.”

  1. Wonderful photo as always Peter. My 82YO Dad, Don, goes to the first day of all the Shield matches at Adelaide Oval (Happy Birthday for today Dad).
He has a good opinion of Kane, but he would choke on his Weet Bix at mentioning his name in the same sentence as ‘Nugget’ Miller.
He tells me that Richardson is injured and won’t be able to play in the first Shield game starting Wednesday.
Maybe he’s just the next Shane Watson!

Geez Peter what was in that , Coopers Pale Ale, at this stage , Red Emmel is closer to
Keith Miller , than Kane Richardson !
Seriously , Kane has shown a bit of promise so far but in all areas of the game getting on the ground, batting where he does at least have a technique to work with , bowling where he is a work in progress and fielding wise he is good but not elite . A long long way to go before he can be compared with a superstar
    Great Photo tho Peter

  3. Australia have been looking for this all rounder for a long time. I dont think Richardson’s batting is good enough unfortunately. Maybe Glen Maxwell can be the man if his bowling improves.

  4. He bats, bowls and fields and I reckon that’s where the comparison ends with Miller.

I hope that KR can cement his place with SA and have a bumper season but his injuries may hold him back. Jeez, I hope the Redbacks can deliver more than promise this season.

Corker of a photo though. Good stuff.

  5. Looks great in the foto … but who was he facing? Probably a dibbly dobbler, I imagine.

The photo is obviously taken from the recent Grade match on the weekend between East Torrens and Adelaide. Sam Darling (son of Rick) is the Adelaide keeper in the background. The photo must also be from East Torrens second innings as Kane was dismissed in the first innings first ball LBW.
