Jim Higgs and David Parkin talk cricket (and possibly the meaning of life)

Former Test spinner Jim “Glad” Higgs and football legend David Parkin will answer any questions you may have about T20 cricket, the in-the-back rule, Australia’s Ashes squad, the goal review system or the meaning of life at the annual Lord’s Taveners Australia charity dinner.

The Lord’s Taveners is a fund-raising group that loves sport, particularly cricket, and benefits disadvantaged kids. For more information, click here.

Now in its third year, the annual dinner will be held at the Kingston Hotel (55 Highett St, Richmond) on Tuesday, June 18, 6.45 for 7.30. Cost is $50 for a two-course meal and entertainment. Drinks at bar prices.

Jim, a Tiger supporter, was also a Test and Victorian selector while David has been heavily involved in men’s health issues and is on record as saying he would rather have earned a baggy green than play in an AFL/VFL premiership side. He was also a mentor to former Australian coach John Buchanan.

For the past two years, the Kingston evening has become one of the most popular events on the Lord’s Taverners’ calendar. The hotel dining room has been packed to capacity and it is sure to be a full house again in June.

To book either go to the Lord’s Taverners website (click here) or send a cheque (payable to Lord’s Taverners Victoria) to Kevan Carroll at 5/59 Riversdale Road, Hawthorn, Vic, 3122. Please RSVP by June 14.
