Almanac Football: IMPACT Anzac Day Cup Tournament

The Osaka Dingoes are hosting their IMPACT Anzac Day Cup Tournament on Saturday, 21 April at the Izumi Sports Village in the wider Osaka Region.

The Osaka Dingoes, Tokyo Goannas, Komazawa Magpies and a merged team made up of the R246 Lions, Tokyo Bay Suns and Senshu Powers are participating in the tournament.

This tournament will be held in respect for those who fought and served Australia and New Zealand at war and will provide AFL Clubs in Japan with a good opportunity to compete and develop their players and club.

All participating teams will be playing against eachopposing team once and a Grand Final will be held to decide the winner of the tournament.

The tournament will be held between 1 pm and 5 pm. If you are around Osaka on that day, why not come out and watch some of our games!

If you would like any further details, please email the Osaka Dingoes at

At Dingoes trainings, my improvements have been observed and I got positive feedback from my coach Matt. I hope I will be a goal kicker like Stephen Milne.

On Friday, the fractured left finger’s bone was confirmed. It happened at the end of February, but is on mend. The injury doesn’t stop me going on the training or practising on my own. Even I have been practising everyday this week.

About Yoshihiro Imagawa

A Japanese Saints diehard with huge passions. The Western Bulldogs won the flag in 2016 and Richmond followed in 2017, so why not St Kilda in 2018? Like my St Kilda, I strive and work hard to achieve my life goals both in profession and my private life. Sadly I missed watching footy while my favourite Nick Riewoldt was playing and when St Kilda had Anzac Day clashes in Wellington. But I am excited to be back in Melbourne in July 2018 for two St Kilda matches. Now I am a player for the Osaka Dingoes Footy Club, as well as a public relations officer. My stories of footy in Asia including the Dingoes news can be found on World Footy News.

  1. You’re a tough one Yoshi kun! Hope your finger heals quickly. I’m looking forward to hearing more about the ANZAC Day tournament. Go Dingoes!

  2. Cheers Jarrod! My finger is slightly healing, but having to do food preparation and to cook deep fried beef where I have to wear rubber gloves and take off a cast and bandages slows down the healing… I will report the tournament here too. Thanks for your great supports mate!
