bright start
to the first quarter –
Autumn moon
clear skies –
the drop punt
splits the middle
murmurings of war –
the full-back loads up
a torpedo
gradually
we give up the lead
Autumn dusk
falling leaves –
all those goals
we should’ve kicked
final siren –
the brilliance
of the moon
one point win
all the mistakes
we forget
