late winter~
the magpie’s calls
go unanswered
Collingwood loses again
the path turns
to mud
briefly
within touching distance
but I can’t feel it
long winter ~
the empty seats
before the final siren
the Magpies
done for another year
~ only seagulls
16 goals
we lose by 16 goals
anyhow, I’m alive
season ending defeat
the final siren
disembodied
About rob scott
Rob Scott (aka Haiku Bob) is a peripatetic haiku poet who calls Victoria Park home. He writes haiku in between teaching whisky and drinking English, or something like that.
HB – love the second last thought – 16 goals but I’m alive. Beautiful.
Earlier this season (when the Pies were flying) I made the brash statement that I would run naked up Bourke Street in Melbourne if they won the flag. I quit my training regime some weeks back.
