and half-empty
first bounce –
seagulls skirt
the centre square
lull in the game –
empty seats where only the rain
speaks
cloud blunt sun –
one handball then another
until it’s gone
shot from right in front –
the undeniable silence
of a miss
sun pokes through
once in a while a kick
finds its target
sunbeams –
somehow from that angle
a goal
winter showers –
in patches the game
