wet afternoon
the football used
as a lure
Johnno subbed off
the game loses a little
right-side brain
sprinting in the clear
then on meeting Luke Ball
stopped
wind-tossed rain
a perfect pass
by mistake
moon strains through clouds a goal clear
moments after
watering my dead plant
Leeroy explodes to life
the rain
lighter now
begins to waltz
– Krakouer’s goal

Loved the dead plant line. Many people water their plants when they’re dead. Its like an apology for their lack of attention early. I read somewhere once that watering a dead plant is like sitting next to a deceased loved one, gushing tears of hurt, wishing you had been more honest with them when they were alive.
