Gigs Ladder Comp Round 9 – Theo gets the heave ho

The mighty have fallen. How? Well it’s probably a bit to do with West Coast, who jumped from 11th to 6th with their win over GWS. That ladder shuffle has led to a ladder ladder shuffle, with Theo slipping from top to 10th and Michael Ba the new outright leader, on 40 points.

I’m pretty sure that MICHAEL BA won’t let the ladder leadership go to his head, though, given that he’s an anagram of AH, I BE CALM.

Moving into second place, on 42, is Gavin T. It remains to be seen whether Gavin, whose full name is an anagram of MOVING HOT PANS, can stand the heat in the kitchen.

In equal third place are a bunch of seven, including two former ladder champs, Peter M – aka “Mad Man” – who, along with yours truly is the only person to have participated in every ladder comp since its inception in 1991, and Lou H, who took home the prize in 2011. The others in the bunch are Jesse H, Leon C, Ted A, Patrick K and Leslie H.

Meanwhile, Yvette W has reclaimed bottom place from Lou F. I can see these two having a ding-dong battle throughout the season. The two of them have left Yrag Legov, the captain of the Tomsk Tomahawks (top team in the Siberian Australian Rules Football League) in their wake.

Geoff Slattery continues to be the best-performed of the so-called experts. The day may come where he rues his decision not to become a “real” entrant.
