Fearless: Some observations

Well wherever he is I hope he’s ok but…we’ll leave it at that.

Hope you are otherwise all in all aspects of life.

The form has appeared in 6 weeks of the AFL season thus far. I thought the best way to gauge is by how many quarters your side can muster relative to Richmond, the only 4 quarter side in the competition at present.

Adelaide 2.5 quarters – have ability but not there yet. Watchout if they get it all together!

Brisbane 1 quarter – potential there and learning, but it’s a steep learning curve. Hodge leading from the front.

Carlton 1 quarter – injuries have taken an unexpected toll, but Bolton’s on the right track. Patience, Bluebaggers!

Collingwood 2.5 quarters – a surprise packet but maybe the cards are beginning to fall into place as per Bucks’ vision…imagine no injuries…

Essendon 2 quarters – not as good as 1st thought but a couple of good wins and will improve as the season progresses.

Fremantle 2 quarters – maybe a surprise packet for some, but genuinely exciting mix of experience and youth. Away form needs consistency.

Geelong 2.5 quarters – surprisingly not there yet, some injuries but major inconsistency and lapses.

Gold Coast 1.5 quarters – for a club with no home ground some really good signs but consistency will need to improve.

GWS 2.5 quarters – injuries have hit hard but base is there to work deep into September.

Hawthorn 2.5 quarters – Clarko’s lightning rebuild is generally solid and working well. Ahead of schedule in return to finals action.

Melbourne 2 quarters – good in parts, terrible in parts…if they don’t get ahead of themselves, then they may actually play finals.

North Melbourne 2 quarters – good very good, bad serviceable…just can’t rely too much on older players. Brown a gem.

Richmond 4 quarters – the clubhouse leader…catch them if you can…and depth to cover injuries.

St.Kilda 1.5 quarters – struggling up forward post Riewoldt, but McCartin showing promise. Lacks X-factor. Some things take time and require patience.

Sydney 2.5 quarters – can do wonders without Buddy but generally solid across the board. Buddy adds the X-factor to return them to deeper into the finals.

West Coast 2.5 quarters – another surprise packet but don’t seem to have missed a beat, despite losing heaps of experience.

Western Bulldogs 2 quarters – 2016 and the dais seems so far into the past. Inconsistent and with injuries, but best is still pretty good.

After 6 rounds, the competition is very even. As quoted on the radio on Saturday: “the AFL’s version of utopia is each team on 11 wins and 11 losses”

Watch this space!

Cheers PT
