Crio’s Racing: Wet track sires

From Brisbane to Quorn the tracks are soaked and schedules are in flux.
The major Australian meeting this weekend is in Ipswich.
Combine the previous two sentences and you can deduce that this might be a time for sitting on your hands – or digging up that old list of wet track sires!
I’ll be at Moonee Valley which has had a good rest but, despite its “all weather” boast, may still produce a Heavy track.
For the sake of continuity, here’s some unsecured Quaddy suggestions (might just as well be Tattslotto numbers):-
7/5,10,maybe 6/1,3/2,11,13 the blowout.

Anyone with some tips/pointers? I’ll monitor the site.
Good luck!

Comments

  1. Crio- tomorrow is the Quorn Cup and a friend and his syndicate has Pelekunu Valley the oldie who can sometimes and I repeat sometimes surprise running around (it wont get my cash though)
Again i will chicken out and wait to see what Jock comes up with but I will have an interest in Roccin Jo who is nominated for MV as well
Interesting snippet in the racing news in the Tiser today about the track at Strath coming in for criticism by trainers. Strathalbyn is one of the better country courses anywhere I think
Thanks Budge for reminding me of the Bays win over North in 73 and 80s in last weeks post and please dont mention the Crows

  2. Oges, i know you rate strath highly but the mail is that the course is stuffed… will they put in the requisite money to bring it up to scratch?

  3. You are probably right with your comments (basically the Tiser said the trainers are not at all happy) -I cant see the money coming from anywhere which is a pity

  4. Ripsnorter says

    Crio,

Ranger looks to get his chance tomorrow over here in the west in the Hyperion and the 4.00 does not look too bad as had excuses last two and meets his conquerors so much better at the weights here at WFA.

A couple in Sydney I like are:

Agent – out of Pins so should handle the going and Youthful King came out of his last effort to win easily mid week. Drops down in weight with Bowman aboard and is 10s

Australian Star – been a little disappointing but is a get back horse likes the track and the wet and drops 7 kgs from last effort at 13s is good each way value

In Brisbane I will be putting Steel Zip in – forgive last run and form is ok and always competitive against these types – huge at 50s

Ametsis another interesting horse – ran a big race this time last year to Red tracer and just might be set for this one and is nice price at 10s

Happy Punting tomorrow to all !

  5. Re Strath:
Yes it’s quite a picturesque track but it was bloody hard to back winners there. Quite often when wet the hoops would stay on the outside fence in the back straight and there were plenty of rough results.
I reckon that Strath probably provided the lion’s share of the Crio family fortune because LB did better there than at any other track based on % of turnover.

  6. before the Ascot hoopla next week, it is probably appropriate to pay homage to Henry Cecil, who passed away last week. An enormously successful trainer, Cecil surged again in recent seasons with the mighty Frankel. The media loved him – he’d always provided fodder for front and back pages. Here’s one of the eulogies…
