Crio’s racing: The Heath and Doomben and other opportunities

No time for a thorough overview of this week’s racing – just a quick précis and an invite for others to contribute tips and observations to this forum.

Obviously punters will focus on Queensland and the time-honoured Doomben 10,000 (BR8, 1350m). Your Song (8) is the latest boom and is favoured despite its shocking gate. I’d rather try 14,15,4.

The rest of the Brisbane card deserves serious attention.

Down here in Melbourne we’ll saddle up early for the first of 9 at the Heath.

Quaddy habitués might consider:

MR6 (1000m)- 3,4

MR7 (1200m)- going huge on value with 2,8,9 but warning to leave in the 7.

MR8 (1600m)- raffle. 8 from 4 and 5.

MR9 (1600m)- 5

Good luck!

    Evening punters,

I’ve been quiet (er, absent) on the forums here recently, but have been taking an interest and reading along, alas not wagering much at all.

Am enjoying the UK flat season ramping up also and have been giving it a look.

A couple of long range potential fancies for the Cup I’ve liked thus far are the wins of Willing Foe at Newbury last weekend, and Glen’s Diamond at the York festival. Was around this time last year I started crapping on about Mount Athos and Gatewood!

Over the Atlantic, we’re two legs into the triple crown now, but if we go back to the Kentucky Derby, look at the post-race review technology available for them (play at below link), and out here we have to pay for video replays and cop acknowledged incorrect sectionals…

That technology is also available on EVERY race in Singapore (and Bel Sprinter was bit stiff last weekend by the way).

On the home front I am grateful for Secret Admirer’s retirement. Now the only “get-back never-in-a-winning-spot but this-is-her-day-today” mare I’ll get sucked into is Yosei (and maybe Soft Sand!). Saturday awaits us…

  2. Good to see you back DD- missed your comments.
After a quick perusal of Adelaide form I will wait to see what Jock likes and keep an ever watchful eye on my favourites Duric and Yendall tomorrow in Melbourne
We have a hurdle in Adelaide tomorrow and a good field lines up but interstate horses and jockeys dominate

    Gents,
Crio reckon Your Song is a it special, despite shocking gate, gave Rain Affair a nice old tickle up last start in conditions that should have suited the latter far better than he will get in the “Rothmans”.
Also how about the omen in the race before, Hippopus, with the Munce/Waterhouse combination in the aptly named Mullins Lawyers!
