Barney’s 2010 AFL Crystal Ball Part 5: Melbourne and North Melbourne

by Josh Barnstable

Melbourne:

Off the bottom of the ladder into finals contention is where the Dees will find themselves in the next couple of seasons. What’s so different though? Dean Bailey has predicted a change, he has changed the gamestyle that was, at times, ugly, recruited the best two kids in the country and have an absolute phenomenon in the forward line. That phenomenon is known as Liam Jurrah. The kid from Yuendumu averaged more than two goals a game in his nine matches this season, and after inheriting Russell Robertson’s number 24 guernsey, we have to wonder if he will be better than Robbo. He already is a cult figure, and perhaps his biggest fan is none other than Steve Healy. Jack Watts had a tough start to his career, but after a big pre-season, the number one pick should be ready to fire. Brad Miller will teach Watts, while Michael Newton has one last chance at becoming a solid AFL player. Austin Wonaeamirri will return after missing the whole season, Jurrah and Wonaeamirri will be a dangerous duo up forward. Ricky Petterd showed great promise, while the old firm in Colin Sylvia and Brad Green had career-best seasons. The midfield is starting to take shape. Cameron Bruce has poise, James McDonald has leadership, Brent Moloney has determination and pride, and Aaron Davey has skill. The young midfielders are outstanding though. Cale Morton is going to be a star, Jack Grimes was solid and the two young superstars, Tom Scully and Jack Trengove, will both expect to see some major gametime in the middle of the ground. The defence is young but will be strong when the likes of Matthew Warnock, Colin Garland and Stefan Martin all mature. The recruitment of Joel Macdonald from Brisbane will help largely, while James Frawley is developing fast. Jared Rivers finally put together a full season since his first in 2004, he may become the most important player in the Demon lineup. Along with all those names are the likes of Nathan Jones, Matthew Bate, Clint Bartram, Mark Jamar and the younger kids like Jordan Gysberts, Sam Blease and Max Gawn, the Demons’ future is looking very bright indeed.

My prediction:
Leading goalkicker: Liam Jurrah
Best and Fairest: Brent Moloney

North Melbourne:
New game. New era. That is the slogan for the premiership campaign for the 2010 season for the Roos, and am I crazy enough to actually believe in those silly yet seductive four words? I am, I really have high hopes for North next year. The arrival of Brad Scott, and he said in a letter which went to each Roo member, that he will make the team play a fast, attacking brand of footy, it bought a smile to my face. The forward line is so underrated, in fact the entire squad is. Matthew Campbell and Lindsay Thomas were always neck-and-neck, but after a year where Campbell was cut down by injuries, Thomas accelerated ahead. ‘Flash’ will be looking to consolidate his position in the healthy rivalry that the two indigenous boys have. David Hale is a mystery. Outstanding form in 2008 from the goalsquare, it took until the later weeks of the season until he was finally dropped for poor form and inaccuracy. Josh Smith and Robbie Tarrant will be looking to take his spot, and I hope its Tarrant who does. I met him at the Roos training the day after the launch of the Almanac in Melbourne, and he is a big lad. He is ready to take on the likes of Scarlett and Lake, one-on-one in the goalsquare. Ben Warren is a star on the rise, his four goal performance against Brisbane in Round 10 was a show of what’s to come. A broken leg sidetracked his debut season, but he is fit and raring to go. Aaron Black will be given some game time in the forward line, and hopefully he can be our forward that we have lacked since 2005/06. Drew Petrie has also been told that he will play more of a role at Centre Half Forward, finally a coach who sees where he is best fitted. Cruize Garlett can also be handy as a crumber, while Aaron Edwards and Corey Jones have one last season to prove they are worthy of a spot in this great club. The midfield is solid, the loss of Adam Simpson will hurt but they have young players ready to fill the void. Jack Ziebell didn’t get into full swing this season due to a broken leg, Liam Anthony had an injury interrupted season and Levi Greenwood started showing some true promise late. The draftee Ben Cunnington will also slot straight into the side, his grit and determination mirroring that of the likes of David King and Anthony Stevens, while Ryan Bastinac is also a skilled midfielder with great foot skills. The backline is now finding its key posts. Scott Thompson finished second in the Best and Fairest award this year after a stellar season at Full Back, while Nathan Grima racked up possessions from Centre Half Back. Scott McMahon is growing into a great one-percenter player, Lachie Hansen is showing why he was taken at pick number three in 2006 and Gavin Urquhart will be looking to put a disappointing year behind him. With a side like that, you wonder why the Roos had such a terrible season this year, especially when the likes of Hamish McIntosh, Brady Rawlings, Michael Firrito and Leigh Harding were firing. Daniel Wells and Brent Harvey had injury-interrupted years, hopefully that is behind them, and the recruitment of Sudanese sensation Majak Daw will give the Roos a cult figure. Things are looking good down at the newly developed, state of the art Arden Street, can Brad Scott become the most valuable coach since Denis Pagan though?

My prediction:
Leading goalkicker: Drew Petrie
Best and Fairest: Jack Ziebell

Tomorrow: Port Adelaide and Richmond.

Comments

  1. Steve Healy says:

Yep, good work Josh, although I don’t think it was quite Brad Green’s best year, since he was injured, but jeez, Green’s determination was at a high thats for sure

  2. So was Moloney’s.

Danni, you can’t compare Toovey to Pendlebury coz Pendlebury aint a defender! Toovey is better than him if we’re talking about one-percenters and tackling, but Pendles is better than Toovey in the midfield with accurace kicking and handballing

  3. North’s B&f- Swallow will take it out again for sure.

  4. ok, ok im sorry guys but i really think that if he was just the tinest bit more accurate..i would shutup! lol who knows maybe hes improved for this season.
Okay..ill start a clear slate for Toovey to prove himself to me.

  5. Yeah you can’t keep a grudge on players that havent even played 70 games yet. Toovey is probably better than Urquhart in my opinion

  6. Steve Healy says:

Danni, I think you rate players more highly just cos they look good, and rate them lowly just cos they look bad etc. At the end of the day it comes down to football ability.

  7. Damian Watson says:

Yeah great preview Josh it certainly is a new era for both of these clubs.

I agree that North’s list is underrated but then again that has been their trademark for most of the club’s history.

  8. Steve its nto all about the pretty!
i used to worship Buckley back in the day, what a player, what a captain! and trust me, he aint pretty at all.

  9. I really reckon if we won the premiership next year (which isn’t beyond us) North would be rank outsiders to even make the finals the year after according to the bookies and ‘experts’

  10. I will let you in on a little secret.
i have always been jealous of North having Boomer Harvey. He’s brilliant he is!
and hes not preety but i like to watch him play.

  11. Yeah Buckley is pretty ugly, it must be a trend with Collingwood coaches

  12. lol underrated? are you kidding me!
North is always out and ready when they play us! annoys me to peices!!
    lol

  13. I still remember the two goals he kicked in Arch’s 300th game in 2007, and the goal against the Dogs in 2008 where he kicked it off the ground up to himself, ran around a couple of opponents, handballed to Thompson, got it back and snapped a goal. You can’t teach that stuff

  14. Yeah that might be true, but in the HS on a friday every one would pick the Pies over the Roos (except the Kiss of Death, he’s a great tipster)

  15. Damian Watson says:

Boomer dominated in the last State of Origin match for Victoria.

    Ever fancied Micky Martyn Danni?

  16. Steve Healy says:

Are you jealous of the Dees having Liam Jurrah? He couldve easily ended up with the Pies you know, he played for them in the VFL

  17. Josh if u know any good links of his goal let me know so i can watch em 2mro.
i should make a list of players im secretly jealous not to have..but then it wouldnt be a secret!!

  18. Yeah the Yeuendumu Magpies.

Oh Mick Martyn, what a star. Too bad he went to Carlton to finish his career

  19. Damian Watson says:
  20. Micky Martyn, i remember hating him as a kid, he would always play so well against us and i just hated it! lol

No Steve, not when we have Neon Leon.

  21. and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ4Q0WVJ1No&feature=related

I’d give half my arm for Neon Leon, and the other half for Didak.

  22. ahh DAMOOO!! that first goal..seriously!! ahhhh!! :) he didnt even look back at the goals, now thats talent and accuracy!!

lol Josh yeah i love those two! LOVE EM.

  23. Steve Healy says:

Jurrah is more of a freak than Neon Leon

  24. Damian Watson says:

Well they both have the smartest feet in the AFL.

What about Darren Millane Danni? he looked like a brute but was still adored by Collingwood fans.

  25. YEAH thats why Dids is TWINKLETOES!! :)

LOL..yeah i dont know too much about him besides the fact he played in the 1990 Gf.

  26. Steve Healy says:

so was Ross twiggy dunne, especially after he kicked that goal to tie the grand final

  27. I loved how he kicked a torpedo for that goal

  28. Other player i wish i had-
Brian Lake now THERES A DEFENDER!! Even gave Superman a hard time? goaless wasnt he?

  29. Steve Healy says:

Peter Daicos, now he was incredible. I cant get over his goal against West Coast in 1990 at Waverley- unbelievable

  30. Once again Steve, im proving to you that im not all about the pretty.

  31. Steve Healy says:

Yeah he was held goalless for the first time in his career

  32. You dont fancy Lake?

I’ve never seen that goal of Daicos’s

  33. ohh Steve..please dont go there!! Didak is the closest thing we have to him, but what i wouldnt give for a younger exact Daicos clone!!

  34. nope lake is not pretty but as defender- BLOODYHELL I LOVE HIM

  35. Steve Healy says:
  36. Damian Watson says:

That Daicos goal was good but Chris Lewis’ on the same day was probably better.

Yeah that performance probably cemented his All Australian spot.

  37. Damian Watson says:

Btw I was referring to Brian Lake.

  38. Steve Healy says:

yeah he’s a much better defender than Nathan Brown- lol

Didak doesn’t have the same ability to kick goals from the boundary as Daicos does

  39. just watched it, Bowden’s was better in my opinion

I thought Lake was like the hottest players in AFL in the girls opinion?

  40. Steve Healy says:

no, I think Daicos’ is nearly the best of all time.

  41. Damian Watson says:

Best Goal of all time- Phil Manassa 1977 GF Replay

  42. No Steve, im not stupid, Lake is ten times better a defender than Nathan.
i miss Jimmy Clement though! :(

ummm no, not really Josh. like i said his talent makes up for the looks.

  43. I hate it how i snap great goals like that in my backyard, but no one sees em! Except for the goats though..

  44. Best goal of all time: Mark Merenda from 2001
Best mark of all time: Gary Moorcroft from 2001

  45. Steve Healy says:

    best goal: Adem Yze 2007

    best mark: Shaun Smith 1995

  46. Damian Watson says:

Aussie Jones vs bulldogs at Waverley 1998 comes a close second.

I find it funny how Freo gave away players like Clement and Brodie Holland to Collingwood it set them back a couple of years.

  47. Damian Watson says:

Best Mark – Jeasulenko!!! you beauty

Best piece of commentary- Dennis Cometti ” bobs up like a cork in the ocean”

  48. Steve Healy says:

And Jeff White.. and Luke Hodge… and Sam Mitchell

  49. Steve Healy says:

I think Jeasulenko’s mark is over rated

  50. MITCHELL, OMGGG love to have him alongside Pendles in the middle..Mann im so upset i dont have all these players!

  51. Damian Watson says:

    Jezza leap is a classic!

If you ask me Shaun Smith’s is overrated, I can’t believe it was voted Mark of the Century!

  52. LOL exactly Damo, but we kinda returned the favour by giving them Tarrant, i mean they won in the age department of the deal, But Medders is awesome. :)

  53. even i, a Collingwood supporter am dazzled by Jezza’s mark.

  54. best commentary-…i agree with Josh on the DELICIOUS.

  55. I agree with comment 49.

Man, i just had the crap scared outta me. Dont you hate those videos where you gotta turn the sound up really loud and then a monster or whatever jumps out and screams really loud? It happened to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIWHUZOciwU&feature=related

  56. Steve Healy says:

nah I meant they gave away White to Melbourne, and traded picks 1 and 36 (Hodge and Mitchell) for McPharlin and Croad

  57. Actually, i take back my mark of all time

    Best mark ever: Peter Carey

  58. lol so ill bet u are liking the year nine Danielle..? lol Nah im still like this but most only see my pretty players footy side.

  59. oh..still Steve im jealous we dont have Mitchell at Collingwood.

  60. McPharlin hasn’t been too bad, but they would rather Mitchell or Hodge i guess

  61. Steve Healy says:

    Hahaha thats funny Josh

Damo, Shaun Smith’s mark is the highest of all time, no player has ever gotten higher up than he did

  62. David Nietz.. he was a talent too.

  63. I remember a line from Cometti where he made reference to Fevola’s gambling issues (Fevola really loves Betts, or something like that) and it made me laugh for days

  64. Don’t agree with comment 62.

I wonder how Betts and Fevola will react to each other when the Blues and Lions play this year, coz those two had a close bond

  65. Damian Watson says:

yes but the mark was simple not spectacular and it’s only because he stood on Gary Lyon’s back.

have a look at the mark at 3:55 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwEsVLU1GPs

  66. ohh im so cut at Mick for this one! LeCras!! omgg we could have had him, WE DID HAVE HIM, the pick was ours to take but Mick had to have Morrison…..
    status- sitting in bewilderment

  67. Steve Healy says:

Yes Danni, David Neitz is one of the best marks on the lead in the game’s history

  68. yeah i had thought of him as reliable Steve, but Josh disagrees. lol

  69. Steve Healy says:

Josh, David Neitz is better than any player to ever play for North Melbourne

  70. Bryce Gibbs, he has already made his status alright but mark my words, one day he will be as good as Juddy.

  71. …Wait there Steve.
i don’t agree to that point.
i Still think Harvey is better than Neitz

  72. Steve Healy says:

jeez thats an incredible mark Damo

  73. Steve Healy says:

No, Neitz was a better leading forward than Harvey is a crumbing forward/ midfielder

  74. I love Almost Footy Legends, but i miss Trev :(

  75. ..mmm okay yeah i sorta agree there but Harvey is more exciting to watch.

  76. Steve,

    Wayne Carey

    Enough said

  77. Steve Healy says:

Neitz is one of the few players in the games history who could attract the ball and mark nearly every time the ball came inside 50. Plus he was a beautfil set shot kick, one of the best in the game’s history.

  78. Damian Watson says:

Yeah I’d rather have Trev on the show instead of Hutchy.

Neitz was a great leading full forward, I was there the day he booted nine goals against us in 2002.

  79. I was there the day Pavlich booted nine goals against Carlton lol.

I’d rather anyone over Hutchy, except Caro Wilson

  80. ..omgg yeah!
    Carey bloody hell! :)
back in the day he was such a threat!
he used to be not bad looking but hes diff now.
But, Yeah Carey was would you say a superstar? I think that would sum up his career at North.

  81. Damian Watson says:

Pardon me if this this a stupid question but as Caro had surgery?

  82. mmm i think i should be on the show! they need a girl on that panel!
On second thoughts, why should i degrade myself, stuff it!

  83. Steve Healy says:

ok, Carey’s better than Neitz, but Neitz is better than Archer in my opinion.

By the way, I think Carey is a bit overrated as well, people think he’s the game’s great of all time, but I dont think anyone can go past Gary Ablett Snr

  84. i dont think anyone could go past Daicos!

  85. Damian Watson says:

What about Tony Lockett? on his day he was simply unstoppable, best goalkicker of all time.

  86. Damian Watson says:

Leigh Matthews perhaps as an allrounder?

  87. Steve Healy says:

    1. Gary Ablett Senior
    2. Lockett
    3. Dunstall

    Thats my order

  88. You know Damo, i recon that if Jack Anthony got more of the footy, was able to keep accurate and keep high in confidence (which sometime seems to be a problem) i think he could be the next Lockett. Not straight away but give him a few years.

  89. I dont think its fair to compare Neitz and Archer, they are two completely different players. Carey is better than Neitz, Archer is better than, say Alastair Nicholson or Matty Whelan.

Tonight’s discussion has been pretty great, and it all started with Toovey. Danni, at least he is a good conversation-starter

  90. 1. Peter Daicos
    2. Gary Ablett snr
    3. ….not sure who to put here

  91. lol Josh, like i said new season, new slate.

  92. 1. Leigh Matthews
    2. Wayne Carey
    3. Stephen Silvagni

  93. you know what…dont all start yelling at once but
    3. James Clement

  94. Steve Healy says:

John Coleman might have been the best goal kicker, you cant go past 537 goals in 98 games

  95. Damian Watson says:

    1. Leigh Matthews
    2. Tony Lockett
    3. Wayne Carey

  96. Steve Healy says:

In my opinion the top 3 are clear cut: Ablett, Lockett and Dunstall

  97. You know when i found out Jimmy had retired i had never taken so long to get over a player retiring. i dont know how this sounds, probably corny but i cry when i watch him. I dont think i have seen a defender like Jimmy and to think he was a gift from Freo….
:( nawwww now im blubbering like a baby!

  98. Steve Healy says:

Clement was nowhere near the top 3 of all time.

Where would you guys rate Lloyd in the best of all time?

  99. For you Steve he was no where near but for me, i wouldnt know where to begin. i still remember watching him when i was 5.
Our back line has never been and will never be the same since he left….

  100. As much as i cant stand him, Matty Lloyd was a really good player, dont know where id put him though.

  101. Damian Watson says:

Lloyd would probably fit in between 15 and 20

Didn’t Buckley retire on the same day Danni? I would’ve thought you’d be crying over his retirement.

  102. Steve Healy says:

I’d say Lloyd between 10-15. I really wanted Lloyd to play another year so he could get 1000, plus he’s only 31

  103. ..i cant remember if it was the same day.
yeah dont worry i did cry over Bucks! :(
but we kinda got him back now :)
Jimmy left for his wife’s health but apperently he still had 2-3 years in him.
Still i’ll never forget the number 8 who tucked his shorts over his jersey :)

  104. Damian Watson says:

Yeah and I wanted to wait for another confrontation between Lloyd and Campbell Brown this year.

  105. hahhaha Campbell would have killed him !
hahaha he sacred him into retirement!!
i love Campbell he’s so nice.

  106. Damian Watson says:

    Anyway guys I’m off cya.

  107. Steve Healy says:

cya Damo, have a good one.

I’ll tell you who’s nice: Jack Fitzpatrick

  108. Nice in a wanna give him a big hug way like Campbell, Steve??

  109. Steve Healy says:

hmmm im not sure, but Jack Fitzpatrick added me on Facebook and I was talkin to him

  110. I can see both Lloyd and Brown becoming coaches, so they may face off after all, not to mention both being special guests on some footy shows. How awkward would that be? Lloyd interviewing Brown after a game on ch10

  111. C.Brown, Meddy and Mitchell are teddybear hugging material!! :)
lol next time tell him i said hi! lol

  112. Steve Healy says:

do you know who Jack Fitzpatrick is Danni?

  113. …rookie???

  114. Gotta get up at 5:30 tomorrow :(

  115. 5:30….
    arrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhh

  116. well i beta go.
hit the hay…dream of goals after the siren, a collingwood premiership..
    YEAH..KEEP DREAMING RIGHT?? LOL

    Night
    :)

  117. Keep dreamin Danni

  118. Steve Healy says:

yeah keep dreaming. No FItzy was taken at 50 by the Dees in the national draft.

  119. He’s still a rookie though

  120. Steve Healy says:

yeah, im off now guys cya

  121. …HAHAHAHHAHAH!! lol

    hahahhahahah LMAOOO LOL

    umm..no comment?

  122. ohh and judging by the picture, the Dees are set on preparing for their ballet recital, stuff the premiership, ey Steve? lol

  123. I just got a text from my mate (collingwood supporter) and he says there was a chick on win news who lost her teeth at a Collingwood v Carlton game last year, she’s a member of the cheersquad..

  124. lol..riteo Josh and whats thge point of that story? lol

  125. That Collingwood cheersquad members are weird

It looks like in the pic with Jack Watts that they are practising how to hold up the rest of the 15 teams ;)

  126. lol okay then…

nahh it looks more like they are doing ballet. lol

  127. Steve put down the footy and start practising your pirouettes!! lmaoo

  128. Hopefully, Steve doesnt know what a pirouette is..

  129. lol laugh if he does. :P

status- annoyed at the Collingwood webiste for having the training times but not saying if its a closed or open training session!

  130. :) i was just talkin to Tom Scully

    Status – gonna diiieeeee

  131. cools lol
do u know how to send a twitpic? cos i need to send one to harryO

  132. Nope, you trying to win that jumper?

  133. …YES!! aww man i have to learn how to send a bloody twitpic!!

  134. OKAY..I DID IT!
lol i sent the one that i drew of myself and the Tarrant one i had a play with in media year8.
lol i hope he likes em!! :)

  135. Steve Healy says:

    YOU WERE TALKING TO SCULLY!???!

  136. BREATHE STEVE!! :p

  137. Steve Healy says:

    NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  138. rofl Steve, some of us have bigger problems!!
…lol i have to see what i can do to sweet talk my daddy into taking me to the training session on…Wednesday but it starts at like 9:30!! ohh god and I HAVE TO LOOK PRETTY!!

  139. Steve Healy says:

by the way, hope ya win that signed jumper Danni

  140. Steve Healy says:

Yeah, go, even if it means waking up early one morning

  141. Steve Healy says:

And Josh, I got ya parcel today. Thanks.

I get the whiteboard, hahaha, but I dont get the calendar

  142. yeah i hope i win too !! lol
only cos im thinking of buying a new jumper without telling mum cos shesd killed me! i mean when she sees ive got a new one shes gonna kill me anyways! this way i can wear it and not buy a new one.

yeah early alright..i wont sleep the night before…even if i dont even talk to them its still worth it having a photo with them!

  143. Steve Healy says:

I wanna see the Dees train soon as well, but Casey Fields is just too far away

  144. …where??????
    lol
ill try and get my dad to g et my cousins to come too, that way they can talk FOR me.
Since i will have to breathe into a paper bag to stay conscious!!

  145. Damian Watson says:

    Hey guys,

    what is this jumper competition?

lol I saw the picture the Dees know that they can’t win the Premiership so they will train for the Mardi Gras instead.

Yeah I rarely evre get to see Carlton train because of the tyranny of distance, too bad i’m not a Hawks supporter I could probably see every single Hawthorn training session.

  146. Steve Healy says:

send us the photos of you and the players if you do go, lol.

its in Cranbourne or something, its where the Dees train most of the time

  147. I’ve been to North Melbourne and Essendon training

  148. I’d go to Hawthorn training even if i didnt go for them

  149. Steve Healy says:

    hahahaha very funny Damo.

    They’re just doing strength exercises

  150. Steve Healy says:

so would I josh, and you were considering going for Hawthorn as well lol.

    Gotta go for dinner guys

  151. Damian Watson says:

I wentb to a North training session at Visy Park earlier this year for Sports Science and because our teacher knew one of the assistant coaches we got to talk to the players, I got a photo with Jack Ziebell as well.

  152. well Damo through Twitter HarryO is having a comp for the best Twitpic and the winner gets a jersey signed by the whole team.
    SO naturally..im in!!

  153. What’s Sports Science? Sounds interesting

  154. i have to try and keep my cool. WHY am i all ZOMGGGGGGDYIIIINNNGG aroung footy players?? i mean they are just humans!! WHATS WRONG WITH ME?

  155. Dont worry Danni, i do the same thing, to a lesser extent probably, but you just gotta act like they are normal people

  156. Damian Watson says:

I’ve been to a couple of hawthorn sessions.

Oh Sport Science was one of my subjects last year we learn about athletes diets and schedules and stuff like that.
It was great we got to see North melbourne, Collingwood and the Melbourne Storm train. I still remember having a kick on Gosch’s Paddock with a friend of mine.

  157. Oh awesome, that sounds like fun. Wish i could do a class like that

  158. ..Gee that sounds wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than PE. i might have even LIKED that subject.

Well if i end up going next week..i will try very hard not to die, squeal, pass out or anything like that..

  159. Damian Watson says:

The crap part is that we only get this class in Year Nine but it was intresting.

Anyway I gotta go for dinner now, I should be back on later.

  160. I’m doing martial arts and squash and other stuff for my p.e this year, should be interesting.

Oh and Tim Houlihan has lacerated his foot in a domestic incident. Not that it really matters..

  161. Squash? hahhahaah lol
i was a shocker at squash. Bloody good at Tennis but shocking at squash!
my plans to go out with a friend were canceled cos her lil bro got sick. i was gonna buy my gersey with a number today…mums going to kill me though.
Only cos my other gersey is only 2 years old and in great condition, but i need one without sleeves!

  255. Steve Healy says:

I think I should be reading some books that I need to study for english and literature next year, but I can never get interested in a book that doesn’t involve footy!

  256. ..Steve that is going to be a MASSIVE PROBLEM!! LOL and yes you should ALWAYS read you english and lit books before u start them in class, its a huge advantage!!
    what books are you doing?

  257. Steve Healy says:

;) Yeah I read my books for english this time last year, I forgot what books im doing, in fact I dont know where they are, I dont know where Mum put them

  258. What do you guys mean books for english? The book we get for english is when school is 3-4 weeks in.

  259. I mean do you guys get your books in the holidays or something?

  260. well i order my books off the school booklist and with english and lit i preordered those so i got my english and lit novels like in the last week of school so yeah i get mine in the holidays.

  261. Steve Healy says:

They always have a day where you can buy all the books that you need at school

  280. *waves back*

my dog just went for a swim

Haha my dad mowed the lawn at like 9:30 this morning, conveniently right outside my window. Great way to wake up..

  281. Steve Healy says:

I woke up at 9:30 as well, because my little sister ran into my room and said wake up!

  282. I went back to sleep then got woken up my Mum and said we were goin to town.

This is a bit of a random question, but do you guys see many homeless people in Melbourne? I saw one today, he was passed out outside the CFA and their were ambo’s around him, i saw him yesterday and he said hello to me.

  283. 9:30? well my alarm woke me up at 10:00 giving me an hour b4 driving lesson…argggg

Josh i think Pendles has taken a liking to you lol..Steve on the other hand has some work to do.

  284. Steve Healy says:

There are heaps of homeless people, especially in St.Kilda. That place is practically crawling with them.

    I don’t blame you bear.

  285. lol…no i dont josh..probably cos i dont go to the city much. if i do..i get kinda scared..i get upset but i make no contact cos you never know what could happen. so i do my part in raising awareness at school as a Seeds of Justice team member.

  286. Ha for a second i thought you meant the actual Pendles

  287. lol well josh there isnt much of a difference between them! ;)

  288. Hmm, well yesterday i was sitting at a table reading a footy book in the main street and he waddled past me and looked over my shoulder to see what i was reading so i said hello and he replied and stumbled off, and then saw him passed out today. At least he’ll get a standard meal and a good nights sleep in the hospital if he’s staying their overnight

  289. the last time someone mummbled something at me i freaked out!
and it was in year nine! lol

  290. Steve Healy says:

I always tease my older brother by calling him a hobo

  291. ..lol and why do u do that Steve?

i always remember telling my brother that hes adopted… lol

  292. I swear im adopted, and my parents say that too coz they have no idea where my writing talent comes from

  293. Steve Healy says:

well, he’s got long hair and a beard, and has other hobo-like features that i cant name.

hahaha, I always trick my younger brother by saying “wake up, its christmas”. It only works 1/365 times.

  294. Steve Healy says:

I look way too much like my Dad to be adopted, but yeah same as you Josh in that criteria

  295. lol well Josh mine definatly comes from my mother but the footy part is from dad so i guess they have to go half-half for any future success! lol

okayyyy lol how old is your younger bro?

  296. and i look exactly like my Daddy too. even more like my aunty (dad’s sister)

  297. Steve Healy says:

my writing probably comes from my Grandma actually, shes a really good writer and poet, and she’s written a book on our family history which has a picture of me in it when I was about 3.

My brothers 12 and he’s names Brendan, but he believes a lot of crazy things that I say.

  298. nawwww little Steve!!hav u got the pic? I wanna seeeeeee!!! :)

lol ur little bro sounds cute.

  299. Would he believe you if you said Melbourne were gonna win the premiership? hahaha

  300. Steve Healy says:

nah, not on the computer. It’s a picture of me and my family.

Cute, hmmm i’d call him generic.

  301. lol i picture Steve as a kid..
cute little blonde running around in a diaper, a bit random yet uncommonly attentive and not fond of teddybears.

  302. Steve Healy says:

yeah I liked soft dinosaurs and octopuses better

  303. Steve Healy says:

Nah he wouldn’t Josh, he doesn’t like footy anywhere near as much as me, and he says he goes for Brisbane now

  304. Josh as a kid…
experimented with playdough on his head for future hair dye jobs. liked to throw his baby food and prefered his royal blue baby blanket to the light blue one. lol

  305. Lol hopefully he will change to Collingwood, ey Steve?

  306. Steve Healy says:

yeah, that sounds exactly like Josh, especially the playdough bit

  307. Mikey as a kid- looked up to Ronald MCdonald as his rangga idol. would crawl around the house collecting pages frm the Age to use as wall paper for his cubbyhouse, a fussy eater who tried to sneak into the Tiger cage when he first visited the Zoo.

  308. Damo as a kid…
a Quiet baby who didnt like to disturb or upset others. ate all his baby food only because he was happy to be wearing a Carlton Baby Bib. Spent his free time colouring and playing with his Captian Carlton action figure.
    LOL

  309. Steve Healy says:

who knows Danni, maybe if I knock out a few of his teeth when he’s not looking, he’ll decide hahah jk

Hahaha yeah thats Mike all right

  310. lol oh come on! the teeth thing is getting old!! i mean i have all my teeth! :)

  311. Steve Healy says:

yeah, but you’re not the typical Pies supporter

  312. I still play with playdough

Man its so hot, can’t wait for winter to start

  313. Steve Healy says:

    Josh facebook or msn

  314. Got a new msn: waaiabombers@live.com (no .au by the way)

  315. Steve Healy says:

how often are ya gonna change your email? lol

I’ve never changed mine, its been the same for almost 5 years

  316. Nah my email is the same, but just using a different msn coz my other one screwed up on me

  317. Oh go on msn by the way, and add me

  318. lol okay ill take that as a compliment.

    i know..i hate the HEATTTTTTTT!!
    HATE HATE HATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  319. Damian Watson says:

I hate the heat too although I reckon we have been lucky so far this summer I don’t think we’ve had a 40 degree day yet.

  320. Damo did u have a Carlton bib when u were a baby??? :)

  321. Damian Watson says:

Nah my parents never gave me any Carlton merchandise until I was 5, they have never really warmed to footy.

  322. Melbourne is expecting 41 on monday, in the country we’ve been getting 42-43 degree days at the hottest

  323. Steve Healy says:

yeah, we’re going to the beach with Francesco on that day

  324. Rollin the old whale back into the ocean ey?

  325. lol Steve please..for Franceso’s sake..wear some boardshorts!! lol

    lol

  326. thats like me Damo..eventhough everyone was hoping for a boy lol which is why i had lots of blue clothes as a baby!
my kid is going to have so much Collingwood stuff, you kow you can get afl dummys? lol

  327. Damian Watson says:

None of you guys wear those rashies to the beach do you?

  328. damo, i havnt been to the beach in like 7 years, thats how much i hate it.

  329. Whats a rashie? and i love the beach, i hardly ever go, last time i did was on year 8 camp when we went to Anglesea and we had professional tips from surfers

  330. Damian Watson says:

Those surf t-shirts you can wear in the water.

  331. isnt it the top part of the surfer dude outfit?

  332. I wore a swimsuit, and it was hard to get into and out of. And if felt weird

  333. Damian Watson says:

I guess you can say that

Ben Cunnington will be sidelined for a month with a foot injury

  334. Yeah, he won’t be playing in the NAB Cup i don’t think, so i wont get to see him in action. Disappointing.

  335. Steve Healy says:

    yeah, thats disappointing for Cunners.

Of course ill wear board shorts, its not a nudist beach lol.

  336. Status- teaching Pendleburybear how to write
