A few things I’ve learnt since leaving Essendon for the Bulldogs

Joefloh reflects on his first season as a Bulldogs supporter after dumping the tainted Bombers. He kept his integrity, found a lot of good mates, and saw a lot of losing footy matches.

AFL Round 13 – Collingwood v Western Bulldogs: Natural Justice

Joefloh, one of the many rugged, patient, hopeful Bulldogs supporters, watches two dramas played out. One is his beloved Bulldogs stealing the match from the favourites, Collingwood, the other the Essendon President continue to steal himself.

AFL Round 7 – Essendon v Western Bulldogs: The Final Frontier

Neophyte Bulldog joefloh comes face to face with some smug pr*cks supporting his former side in his first Essendon game as a non-Essendon supporter. Was this a reflection of his former self, he asks, while musing on his new found pessimism.

Round 6 – Western Bulldogs v Adelaide: The Challenges of Becoming {a Bulldogs supporter}

Joe takes his 4 year old Scarlett to her first footy Western Bulldogs match, with a toy dog mascot, hot dogs, children to play with and a sunny afternoon all good omens. Then the game started. On the train home, an old Doggy supporter gave her opinion on Joe’s footy parenting. [Please discuss. Ed.]

AFL Round 3 : Bulldogs v Richmond – A nice day on the hill

Joefloh is stacking up the brownie points, as parental obligations prevent him seeing his Bulldogs in the flesh. Virtue is its own reward.

AFL Round 1 – West Coast v Western Bulldogs: Unlucky Dan

Joefloh faced one final hurdle in his now famed transition from Bomber to Bulldog – watching his new team in the west.

AFL Round 1 – North Melbourne v Essendon: First Essendon game on the outer

Joefloh is wavering. He loves his Bombers players. He hates what the club did. Watching last night’s impressive win was torture. Will he or won’t he?

Going West

JohFloh (surely not a Bjelke-Petersen?) has had enough. This lifelong Bomber is sick of the hypocrisy and hubris, and is trading up to a lifetime of honest working man’s footy following the Western Bulldogs.
