Almanac Racing – look away now!

Nothing to see here folks. Racing has gone open misere to finish 2016. James MacDonald’s demise (what a fool) deflects from RVL’s fiasco. Credit to Godolphin – I suspect their clout could have covered over the mess but they have taken the heat, supported Stewards and Intel, and racing will ultimately benefit. Victorian Racing finishes the year mired in innuendo and the Olly issue epitomises the spineless situ down here. Hard to be positive.

Saturday’s at Sandown…hmmm, another joint imperilled. The meeting’s irrelevant.

I’ll be at Caulfield on Monday and possibly Mornington on Wednesday. Certainly the Frank Grey Smith on Tuesady!

Always keen for a tip.

Good luck!

  1. Spot on Crio, one should look away. I’m in the midst of arun from hell, i thought i’ d been through that mid-late October, but this one is costly. I’ve got one bet running later today, Mitchell Road, the toppie in race 6 @ Wagga. Pop down the club after work for a few frosties and hopefully Mitchell Road salutes for me.

Yep the fields over the next few days are nothing to write home about. I might take Glenrowan Prince in Gawler. It won well @ Tatura last start, and it’s a good drive to Gawler so connections must be confident. Not much else catching the eye, though i notice Jerilderie Letter is running in the last @ Devenport on Monday. It was placed at Flemington last prep, as a 3 year old, so hopefully Steven Arnold can bring him a win on Monday.

    Happy Punting almanackers,

    Frohe Festage.

    Glen!

  2. Glen is right in Glenrowan Prince finding the right race, it should get a nice run behind Deheros and Tildy Lad, Tenere may be a danger as it goes well fresh. My best for the day is Beau Rivage in the 7th at Gawler, hopefully ridden quietly yout the back, I’m concerned about the apprentice on Halayr Rothestar.

Interesting runner in Scone race 3, Allez Bien. The photo on my wall says its last win was 21st March 1981, beating Burnt Look at Cheltenham with Des Coleman aboard. I think the owner of the current one may lack some imagination and not sure what the Lebanese translation of the French may be

  3. Ahhh, the Lebanese connection and Christmas. I’ve just opened a practice beer and pondered what sport’s on TV. Any live racing?
Suddenly there’s a flashback to the late 70s. We’re sitting around the family dinner table on Christmas Eve. This is before the days of “saturated” sport. Mum’s reflecting on the family blahblahXmasstuff – essentially, how sad that people can’t give some time to Christmas and escape the merry-go-round of races etc.
    The phone rings.
Slug. “Wanna go to Angle Park tonight – nothing else on?”
    “Um…no thanks”
From memory he got pinged for underage betting that night, bidding the officer a facetious “Merry Christmas”.

  4. Yep there were more than few profanities provided when Mitchell Road failed to run a place. Two bets on the dishlickers that night ,two wins! Make sense of that ?!?

I was happy for Glenrowan Prince to run second. I had it each way as well as in all up place so finally some $$$ back. . First would have been better but it was $$ for Glen.

Hopefully i’ve turned the corner. wE’re off to Corowa Friday, hopefully it’ll be a productive day.

    Happy Punting,

    Frohe Festgae,

    Glen!
