Almanac Racing: Flemington

Hopefully the VRC’s free-day at Flemington will entice punters to the ring and families on to the lawns this Saturday.

I reckon you can build a Quaddy bank by getting there early and backing CHATEAUNEUF DUPAPE (R1, No 5) all up WINGED CHARM (R2, No4). If that (somewhat predictable!) doesn’t salute, re-launch your endeavours with RAINBOW QUEEN (R3, No6) at good E/W odds.

My confidence, though, doesn’t extend to the complex Quaddy legs, which kick off with a very average 2600m Handicap. Tracks are drying so be wary. Maybe box 6,7,8.

The Listed Kensington Stakes (R6, 1000m) is next, with Grand Duels (1) carrying the Grandstand (59.5kg) and Warm Love (7) vaulting up in class. I’d be looking for some value here. Perhaps 3,5,6.

A tough 1400m raffle follows. Try 2,4,5,7.

The last leg is a restricted 1800. 3+4yo race! Some solid form in this. If you can afford it, put in 1,3,6,9.

Good luck…+ save some pennies for the ripper Australia Stakes meeting next Friday night.

    G’day Crio,

Great to see you on Friday night.

A superb day at Flemington. The sky. The cooling breeze. The refreshments. The punt.

Backed Gail and King Diamond. Gail was very generous odds with bookies compared to the Trans-Australian Bank

Me mate SG Dodson found Kert (good form at the ‘Bool). Should’ve had an exacta in that race.

Not many other should’ves besides Grand Duels. That’s an indicator of an enjoyable racing experience.
