Almanac Racing

It’s a forlorn task trying to push a racing profile in the AFL states this weekend so I’ll keep this brief.

Some attention will be required if you’re looking to launch in to the punt in a week or so – at the very least watch replays of the main races from Caulfield and, of course, the G1 offering from Rosehill.

He Or She looks overs to me in MR5. It doesn’t win out of turn, but this horse has placed behind some serious cattle and might get a cosy run for young Mitch Aitken.

I’m using the “best horse” argument to promote Brave Smash in MR6. There’s some depth in this race but only the fav would countenance The Everest. Needs to win comfortably to push those claims.

Similarly, Abbey Marie ran a gallant G1 2nd last start and is touted as a Caulfield Cup prospect. That’s enough to win MR7.

My value bet’s in a tricky MR8. Miss Gunpowder has tremendous fresh form. Back @12/1.

The million dollar Golden Rose headlines a strong Sydney meeting. I’ll be on the Vic rep, Merchant Navy (8/1 E/W) against the very impressive Menari.

Good luck if you’re having a bet.

Comments

  1. Good work, Crio. Spring is upon us at last.

Kenedna $31? Throw it into a trifecta with Fuhrik, Ravi and Missrock.

Everything else multi with Menari and double your return.

  2. Love your confidence.
I see that (as usual) my tip, in this case Miss Gunpowder, has been scratched.

  3. No Craig Williams today will make all Fuhryk punters happy, combine it and Legless Verve in exotics, the latter has a good habit of winning at Caulfield first up. I’ll be looking to either Sebring Dream or Merriest in the last, interesting to note the owner of Baby Don’t Cry rescinded the lease and then it wins 2 of its last 3 runs. Shifty?
In Adelaide they say the track is soft 5, expect it to get upgraded. So Skilled in race 5 will appreciate a firmer track and so will It and a Bit in the 6th who likes the inner track. Have a go at Daytona Grey today, comparatively well weighted and goes OK on a firmer track.
