Almanac Music: Stereo fun at Newport Folk Festival

Smokie Dawson and his Stereo Stories colleagues kept the laughs coming during a 45 minute bracket at the Newport Folk Festival in Melbourne on Sunday 5 July.

After writer Vin Maskell and singer Jack Gramski opened the show with the dark tension of State Trooper Smokie, backed by The Stereo Stories Band, lightened things  up with Before Too Long, a tale of teenage love and a deal-breaking Paul Kelly song.

Visit Stereo Stories to listen to and read Smokie’s story, along with some others from the gig: Jackson, Senses Working Overtime, Born In Chicago…

Our next show is a 90 minute gig at Victoria University on Thursday 30 July, 7pm. VU Bar, Footscray Park Campus, Ballarat Road. Hope to see you there.
