Almanac Hurling: Waterford v Clare – Ireland Division 1A Final Replay

The recent final of the Ireland Division 1A between Waterford and Clare was a draw.

Yesterday they played the replay.

Here’s a fine report on the game from Malachy Clerkin of the Irish Times:
“Tony Kelly’s late heroics ensure Clare escape to victory.”

The All Ireland Hurling Championships are scheduled for June.

    Love that opening.
Same could be said about Australian football.
We could probably learn a bit by taking a wider perspective.

“Wouldn’t you think by now that we’d all be beyond these bouts of fretting and jitterbugging about poor little old hurling?
Or that we might give it the benefit of the doubt occasionally, maybe trust it to figure itself out?
Clare and Waterford are supposed to be the barbarians at the gate but they came up with an Allianz League final replay yesterday that made Thurles swoon. Hurling bends towards the light, always.”

Fantastic write up by the Irish scribe. Love watching the Gaelic sports, wish they were more accessible here.
