Perhaps we should not overlook
what soccer fans have said:
‘an oval ball, an oval ground,
for men with oval heads.’

At the close of play
what did Hopoate say
to Mal Meninga?
Smell my finger.

 

 

The World Game

 

The European conquerors
took soccer to the nations;
like rabbits it’s the tell-tale sign
