G’day Sportsfans

Bob Neil invites you to  the Adelaide Uni Greys – Footy Almanac pleasant Sunday afternoon lunch this Sunday August 3. All welcome, of course.

Over the past few years these have been meandering affairs of good pub food, red wine and lies.

This year will be no different.

I will be the MC. Rulebook will take give us an update. I have seen his speech:

“How to be an avant-garde standover man in the liberal varsity environment”.

Ground-breaking.

Sunday Aug 3 12 for 12.30pm

$50 – includes your choice of Almanac, Footy Town, or other selected titles by Almanac writers

$40 for Almanac members.

Please reply ASAP esp re the pies v power game ( need some notice re tickets )

  2. C’mon Melbourne greys most Victorians would turn up to the mcg if harmsey read the phone book out name by name

Show us Sydney siders what Victorians are made of

And it’s better to show up and face Rulebook in person than be stalked by him all year

I think Sniffer will be a definite starter

  3. Luke Reynolds says

Looking forward to the day. Especially Rulebook’s speech.

  4. Rulebook: the avant-gardener?

  5. Dan Sergeant says

Given rulebook’s recent comments regarding the pharmacological exploits of the bombres we can rest assured that the back our boys/James has done no wrong fan club won’t be in attendance.

  6. Tom Martin says

Very droll Peter_B! Perhaps even the ‘savant-gardener’.

I will always remember the lift Rulebook gave me one afternoon from Beautiful University Oval post-game to Hold Your Bowlies.

After a short ride into town I emerged from his station-wagon, sprinkled all over with lawn clippings and pub raffle tickets, all spare change having magically vanished from my pockets.

He still hit me up for raffle tickets at the pub.

Indefatigable. If fund-raising had a Fantasy League he’d be first picked.

  7. Mark 'Swish' Schwerdt says

As my dear old mum’s visit on the weekend (now from Townsville, but to me, always from Adelaide) reminded me, another “only in SA” feature to be added to JTH’s list from yesterday is the double-cut bread roll.

Sorry I had to bail early, but I hadn’t seen her for a year.

  8. Malcolm Ashwood says

  9. pity, Swish…I popped down hoping to meet you and others. Cooled my heels in the bar watching early segments of Hawks and Dogs. People walked by, Harmsy emerged and the show was over! Some other time I hope.
