A-League 1,000 – The Shuffle Edition

A big weekend of A-League action gets underway tonight at AAMI Park, when Melbourne City take on Adelaide United.

City have swooped on sacked Newcastle skipper and Dutch international Kew Jaliens and former Socceroo hero Josh Kennedy will be strutting his stuff, as they face Adelaide in prime-time.

“Late drama in Adelaide saw the Reds home in the week leading up to the game that everyone, it seems, got a contract extension (except for you Nigel, you must got to Newcastle). Whereas Melbourne City featured in an unsurprising game which only saw five shots on target for City and Perth combined. How Melbourne’s light blues go on a relatively quick back-up after playing in hot weather on Sunday could prove critical.”

In other matches, a massive crowd is expected for the Western Sydney Wanderers vs Sydney FC clash at Parramatta and champion striker Archie Thompson plays his 200th game for Melbourne Victory. With current leaders, Perth Glory in a must-win game against a resurgent Brisbane Roar, expect all-out attack from the Victory as they look to roll Wellington, and assume top spot on the A-League ladder.
