Comments

  1. Test won’t go 3 days. Be over by Sunday. Real WACA green top, as the covers haven’t been lifted for 2 days until lunch time today. Plenty of rain about, but will be fine for tomorrow.
Agree with you about Saffas having the better quicks to take advantage of it, and it should be a ‘send in’ pitch for the winning skipper – no spinners either side. Morkel and Steyn will make Ricky wish he’d called stumps immediately.

  2. Mark Doyle says:

Peter B, (What does the ‘B’ mean), I am bemused with your definitive and pessimistic prediction of the forthcoming Perth test. Both the Australian and South African teams are pretty evenly matched. However, the Aussies have more potential matchwinners with Clarke, Ponting and Johnson. The South Africans are disadvantaged because of the Kallis injury and Steyn’s poor record on Australian wickets.

  3. Peter Flynn says:

    Peter B,

The weather has been most unseasonal in Perth.

The toss will be really interesting.

    Win it and bowl?

  4. Still light showers tonight, so the covers will be on and off. Must have more grass and moisture than usual. No spinners and either captain will bowl.
Leaving Siddle and Hilfy out is madness. The wicket is made for Siddle and he would have backed up. Strong sou wester is ideal for Hilfy to push up into.
Starc, Hastings, Hazelwood and Mad Mitch is a joke. Character and experience matters at this level. Put in one wild card by all means, but this is swinging for the fences.
    Get on the Boks.

  5. Wet track Pete? Those Marshes have been problematic for Australia recently.

    MD, bovine excretia.

  6. Andrew Starkie says:

Exciting new look Aust team. Hastings, great story. he and Mitchell are form Shield bowlers so deserve to be there. Why is Watson playing? Should be playing domestic cricket to rediscover form. Good decision by Punter – right for him and team. Probably should’ve happened some time ago. Maybe too late to set plans in place for Ashes 2013. Selectors need to show faith in Quiney and bring him for Sri Lankan series at number 5. Clarke to three.

  7. Gee whiz…I’m all for picking guys in form,
but I did not think John Hastings would
    get the new pill !!!!

  8. John Harms says:

If you took the tip on the bowling side now is a good time to back SA – $4.50+ on TattsBet.

  9. Skip of Skipton says:

Amla getting run out is a real bummer John.

  10. Yes, Australian run outs will do well to fight back from here.
