2013 – A Season in Song: Grand Final Edition

One last chance for airwave glory in 2013.

I reached back into the 60’s to draw on the longest bow possible – Fremantle’s deep indebtedness to the land of Woodies Lemonade, Fritz Cups, Frog Cakes, wide city streets, Bob Neil, Coopers and Wilbur Wilson.

Once again, it was probably too cerebral and clearly not parochial enough, nor indeed prescient.

Dockers Players from SA (Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay)
Byron Schammer and Chris Groom
Clive Waterhouse, David Hynes
Not forgettin’ Daniel Schell
Tony Modra was up there too
Dockers players from SA
Watchin’ the finals roll away, ooh
They were Dockers players from SA
Wastin’ time
I left my home at West Torrens
Headed for the Freo Bay
Could have returned five times now
But something special’s gonna come my way
The Dockers’ captain’s from SA
Matthew Pavlich will have his big day
The Dockers’ captain’s from SA
Grand Final time
Looks like something’s gonna change
Nothing will remain the same
I’ll have ten defenders hangin’ off me
I’ve been waiting my whole life for this game
In the goalsquare taking it in
One hundred thousand voices yelling, listen
From Adelaide I roamed
Just to make the Dockers my home, now
I’m the Dockers’ captain from SA
Leading my side to victoray (MS – sorry)
I’m the Dockers’ captain from SA
Grand Final time
